Microdermabrasion Treatment Sydney
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive skin resurfacing treatment that rejuvenates the skin on your face, neck or arms with virtually no downtime. It deeply exfoliates the skin's aging, damaged, outermost layers to reduce imperfections and sun damage, blemishes, certain types of acne scars, fine lines and uneven pigmentation. Whilst aged, dull surface skin sheds naturally in the young, as we age this process slows, allowing a layer of dull, thickened skin to accumulate and to obscure the healthy radiant skin below.

While microdermabrasion is most effective for patients in the early stages of aging, teens also benefit. Microdermabrasion can reduce mild acne scarring and blotchy pigmentation, and can improve the appearance of poorly textured skin, fine lines, and large or clogged pores. The procedure is considered effective for both dark- and light-skinned patients.
Medical microdermabrasion as performed at Heber Davis is a two stage process. First we mechanically buff and polish the skin using a diamond brush together with powerful suction that vacuums away dirt, dead cell buildup and debris in pores. This prepares the skin for a second, chemical, exfoliation in which lactic acid and vitamin A solutions penetrate more deeply to thoroughly cleanse pores and to promote new cell growth that plumps fine wrinkles and shallow scars.

Though a course of medical microdermabrasions achieves a result that approaches that of a heavier chemical peel, microdermabrasion is a less invasive treatment with minimal downtime. Those looking for a deeper treatment, but with minimal downtime, could consider a Micro Laser Peel.
Though softer, smoother, clearer skin is usually noticeable after the first treatment, optimum and lasting results may require a series of five to ten sessions, spaced at 2-3 weekly intervals, depending on the condition being treated and the quality of your skin. Single microdermabrasions are best reserved for maintenance or for a pick-me-up for your skin before an important outing.
You can expect immediate improvement in your skin’s texture and appearance and you can look forward to softer, smoother younger looking skin, with roughness gone, pigmentation evened and wrinkles minimized. A daily skincare regimen and occasional maintenance treatments will help you maintain the benefits.

Medical microdermabrasions are intended to be gentle and safe. Though you will feel a slight tingling sensation, treatments are usually well tolerated. As your skin accustoms to the treatments settings are increased as you progress through the course of your treatments.
Application of exfoliating solutions may cause some tingling or temporary stinging. Your skincare professional is trained to maximise the effectiveness of the treatment while at the same time ensuring your comfort.
Your skin may look slightly flushed immediately after the treatment but should return to normal in 10-30 minutes. There may be some redness and/or light flaking for 5-7 days, though this will not normally require time away from normal activities. Your skin should look and feel smoother and more youthful even after the first treatment and will continue to improve through the course of additional treatments.
Your first appointment includes a detailed consultation as well as "before" photography and treatment and takes approximately 45 minutes. Subsequent treatments take approximately 30 minutes.
Because microdermabrasion exposes younger, more delicate skin it is very important to protect it from sun damage. We recommend using Ultraceuticals Daily Moisturiser SPF 30+ which contains antioxidants and provides a complete block in a light and easy to use nourishing formulation.
Though medical microdermabrasion is specifically intended to be gentle and discrete, the possibility of side effects occurring whenever the skin is treated cannot be entirely eliminated.
Any treatment to the skin can result in redness, swelling, crusting, bruising, activation of pre-existing cold sore infection, or flaking of the treated areas.
To minimise the risk of complications it is important to follow all post treatment instructions carefully.
Sometimes a Vitamin A solution is applied as part of this treatment. This is not recommended for pregnant women.
