Dermal fillers are increasingly popular for men who are keen to take control of their appearance. Dermal fillers are one of the most popular non surgical cosmetic treatment for men worldwide.
Dermal fillers have traditionally been used to reduce lines and wrinkles that develop in response not only to aging but also to the multitude of modern environmental stressors such as challenging careers, sun exposure, smoking, drinking, poor skin care or simply facial muscle movements.
Over the last decade dermal filling has undergone a paradigm shift, from simply erasing fine lines to significant facial volume correction, nose reshaping, eradication of under eye bags and accentuation of classically attractive male features. Ultimately, facial aging is as much about altered contours as about specific wrinkles.
What are dermal fillers?
Heber Davis specialises in the injection of “natural” dermal fillers.1 These are made of hyaluronic, a smooth gel that’s identical to the padding that occurs naturally in our skin. As skin ages, hyaluronic gradually breaks down, resulting in skin sag, wrinkles and a loss of volume. Dermal fillers simply replace what has been lost, naturally and instantly, leaving you looking refreshed and more attractive.
Because these dermal fillers are natural gels, they are biocompatible, non permanent, rarely cause reactions and can be easily dissolved if required.
Where are dermal fillers most commonly used in men?
Most commonly requested treatments are for lines and wrinkles, for nose to mouth furrows, lip reshaping, restoration of masculine cheek contours, nose reshaping, correcting under eye hollows and for jaw line firming. Dermal fillers are also used to soften and smooth some types of acne scars.
How do dermal fillers erase lines and wrinkles?
Dermal fillers erase lines and wrinkles simply by replacing the hyaluronic that age, stress, smoking, poor diet, etc has worn away. Microinjections of a specially soft, pliant filler, placed superficially in the skin, gently lifts and fills fine lines and wrinkles, invisibly and instantly blending them with the surrounding skin.
Lines and wrinkles that respond well to dermal filling include lip lines or “smoker’s lines,” those vertical lines running into the lip that allow lipstick to “bleed”, lines in the cheeks, lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth and fine lines around the eyes and on the forehead.
In certain areas dermal fillers are often used in conjunction with muscle relaxants for longer lasting results
How do dermal fillers correct volume loss?
Dermal fillers come in a variety of strengths and consistencies. For volume correction thicker, longer lasting gels are placed more deeply in the skin to recreate more youthfully masculine contours with little or no downtime.
Benefits:
Dermal fillers are the perfect option for the man who wants to manage aging. Dermal fillers can help you look years younger, safely, instantly and with minimal or no downtime. Dermal fillers allow you to take control of your appearance and to feel confident about the way you look.
What does treatment involve?
- Your practitioner will review your medial history, discuss your concerns, answer all your questions and decide on the best treatment plan for you.
- You may view before and after photos of other patients’ outcomes to give you a realistic expectation of your own result.
- We will take before photos of you and will use these to monitor your progress over time. Your photos will not, of course, be shown to other patients.
- Treatment is performed in our rooms and is completed in just a few minutes.
How many treatments will I need?
More than one treatment may be required to achieve the best results. The first treatment lays the foundation for subsequent improvement or adjustment.
How do I prepare for my treatment?
See our suggestions for preparing for your treatment.
Does it hurt?
This procedure is usually very well tolerated because the fillers are all pre-packaged with local anaesthetic for increased comfort. However, for those who are sensitive, numbing creams, light sedation and/or laughing gas are available.
How soon will I see results?
Immediately.
How long will my result last?
Improvements last from 3-24 months, depending on the filler used and area injected. Fillers break down more quickly in areas that move continuously such as the lips (6-9 months) than they do in areas of relative rest such as the under eye hollows and cheeks (up to 2 years).
How do I look after treatment?
Results are immediate and most normal activities may be resumed immediately. Because temporary redness, swelling or bruising is a possibility with any treatment that punctures the skin, we recommend that you do not scheduled your treatment just before an important event.

What precautions should I take after treatment?
Until any initial swelling, redness or bruising has resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (e.g. sauna or sunbathing) or extreme cold.
What are the side effects of filler treatments?
As with any treatment that punctures the skin, dermal filler treatments carry some risk of temporary redness, swelling, bruising or activation of pre-existing cold sore infections.
Treatment should not be performed just before an important event.
See our suggestions to help you prepare for your dermal filler treatment.
Cost?
From $360 Exact cost will depend upon the amount of correction required and the filler used. This can only be determined during your initial consultation.
Heber Davis offers various filler specials each month as well as a regular selection of affordable filler packages. We also offer a Loyalty Rewards Programme that gives you 15% off every fifth injectable treatment (includes both dermal fillers and muscle relaxant treatments).
Are dermal fillers safe?
The fillers used at Heber Davis are made of natural substances that are present in the skin. They have been used successfully and safely for decades and can be dissolved within minutes if required.
Can dermal fillers be combined with anti-wrinkle injections?
Yes. Despite having different actions, dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections are commonly used together. In fact, anti-wrinkle injections often prolong the effect of dermal fillers. Anti-wrinkle injections relax the muscles that create wrinkles, whilst dermal fillers provide volume to plump them up
What about Permanent fillers?
Permanent fillers have been associated with increased risk of serious complications such as infection, granuloma formation (permanent lump formation that can occur even years after administration), and incorrect placement. Permanent fillers cannot adapt to the inevitable changes that occur in our faces as we age. What looks good at 30 could well become a source of embarrassment at 50. For these reasons, we do not recommend permanent fillers for our patients.
Is there anyone who shouldn’t undergo dermal filler treatment?
Dermal fillers are not recommended for those who are allergic to hyaluronic products, who have inflammation or infection in the area to be treated, have any disease affecting the immune system, who are prone to keloid or hypertrophic scarring or who have permanent filler in the area to be treated. Chemical or laser peeling is best avoided for 2-3 months before and after dermal filling treatment. Please let us know if you are allergic to local anaesthetics.
