Leg Vein Treatment, Sydney

Injection sclerotherapy is medically recognised as the international "gold standard"  leg vein  treatment for both superficial varicose veins and spider veins. Dr Deborah Davis has been performing saline sclerotherapy for almost 25 years and firmly believes, despite much publicity to the contrary, that laser treatment for leg veins is less reliable and more risky and therefore cannot be recommended  for the vast majority of patients with any but the very finest of veins.   Sclerotherapy at Heber Davis is performed only by qualified cosmetic doctors.

Superficial leg veins are usually inherited but can also occur following pregnancy, weight gain, prolonged standing or hormonal medications.

Spider vein treatment involves the injection of tiny amounts of a solution, usually salt water, into unwanted veins using a very fine needle. This solution irritates the inner lining of the vein, causing it to shrink and fade.   To see how sclerotherapy gets rid of leg veins  view video  >>

Saline sclerotherapy is performed in the office and takes about 30 minutes. Normal activities other than excessive aerobic exercise may be resumed immediately. Support stockings are recommended to be worn for 1-2 weeks following treatment.

Most patients do extremely well following 2-3 treatments spaced at 6-8 weekly intervals.

Medicare rebates may apply.
