Micro Laser Peels / Weekend Peels
Micro Laser Peel (MLP) is a minimal to partial epidermal laser peel that precisely removes the outermost layers of the skin. Also known as "weekend" peels, MLP's treat skin conditions associated with aging and an active lifestyle, such as wrinkles, pigmentation problems and overall sun damage. Improvements become apparent in just a few days. Sun damaged hands and arms, chests and necks respond well to laser skin peeling.
All laser peels at Heber Davis are performed by our qualified doctors or registered nurses.

Anyone looking for more results than microdermabrasion or light peels can achieve, but without extended down time. Micro Laser Peeling, delivers smoother, healthier, more vibrant skin with a recovery period of 1-5 days, depending upon the depth of the peel.
Whilst microdermabrasion removes cells in the outer covering of the skin, known as the stratum corneum, MLPs remove the outermost layers of the skin itself to depths of between 10 and 50 microns. Settings can be adjusted to perform either a light “weekend” peel or a somewhat deeper peel that will take a few more days to heal.
Because MLP treats more deeply into the skin, it represents the missing link between microdermabrasion and more aggressive deep chemical peeling or laser resurfacing. MLP can also be combined with other skin care treatments, such as fractional laser, for optimal results.
Some patients opt to "freshen up" with a single peel, whilst other chosse a course of 3-4 peels spaced at 8 weekly intervals to achieve optimum results.
Smoother, healthier and more vibrant skin. You will notice a significant change in skin tightness and texture when compared to microdermabrasion.
Some patients require no pain relief, whilst others prefer to apply a numbing cream 30-45 mins before their procedure.
Because the MLP does not fully penetrate the epidermis, healing is rapid and uncomplicated and simply involves applying an emolient cream such as vaseline for a day or two. Depending upon the depth of the peel, most patients recover within 2-4 days. For example, if the treatment is performed on a Thursday or Friday, most patients could resume work the following Monday. Immediately following the treatment your skin will feel and look as if has been badly sunburned. The next day there will be some dryness and possibly itching. By the second day visible fading of redness begins. By the third day, redness is usually dramatically reduced and can easily be covered with makeup.
Though most patients tolerate this treatment well after application of a numbing cream, minor discomfort may be experienced. Laughing gas is also available as needed. Following treatment any or all of the following effects may be experienced - swelling, redness, pinpoint bleeding, bruising, temporary darkening of pigmentation, discomfort and “patterning” of the skin (ie demarcation between treated and untreated skin). These effects are temporary and do not require treatment.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Close adherence to post treatment instructions will both minimise risk and enhance results.
MLP are intended to be light and safe. Complications are infrequent but potentially include infection, eye injury, scarring, prolonged bleeding, bruising, discomfort, pigmentary changes and demarcation between treated and untreated areas.
Some lesions do not respond as well as expected and limited improvement may be achieved.
Yes. Those who are pregnant, have active cold sores in the area to be treated on the day of treatment, have suspicious moles or other lesions, have used certain oral acne medications within the last 12 months, have vitiligo, have a history of keloid or abnormal scarring, are immune suppressed or have a connective tissue disease.
Other forms of skin rejuvenation include a medical home skin care programme, chemical peeling, dermabrasion and surgery. Each involves its own set of potential risks and complications.
